Modification of activated carbon materials

The advances in research on modified Activated Carbon materials in surface structure and physico-chemical properties are reviewed.The functional groups on Granular Activated Carbon materials are described as well. Some applications in the field of environmental protection such as wastewater treatment/purification and removal of SO2/NOx in furnace effluents are introduced and analyzed.

The activated carbons were obtained from industrial wastes (apricot core and grape stalk) of san juan, argentina. these were impregnated with a copper salt and thermically treated in an inert atmosphere.
